Bank Collins Street, William Wardell, 1883-1887, AB & CN June 18th (Sat.) 1887, records the opening on "Tuesday last", Ill pp. 93 & 94, The Pyrmont stone had been pigmented to render it "more saffron-?" The total cost was £58,000. The cabinet makers were Messrs Bell (Melbourne) and the decorators Lyons, Wells & Cottier, another local firm. The copper column-capitals in the Banking Chamber were hand-beaten by Mr. F.C. Richards. AB & CN Jan. 4 1890 p.635. Described James Izett as "the ugliest fascade in Melbourne". Saunders ill.7 (Nat.
